Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how Mortgage Library (“Mortgage Library”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit mortgagelibrary.ca or subscribe to our newsletter. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. When you contact us through our contact form or by email, we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider and the tools we use may record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit and the site that referred you.
We never ask for sensitive financial details such as account numbers, your Social Insurance Number or credit reports. Please don’t send them to us.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
3. Our newsletter and your consent
We only email people who have subscribed. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Our newsletter is delivered through GetResponse, an email marketing provider that stores subscriber details and records basic engagement data, such as opens and clicks, on our behalf.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make the site work (for example, remembering your language preference), to measure how the site and newsletter perform, and to keep the site secure. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
Analytics and advertising. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. We have turned on Google Analytics Advertising Features, including Google signals, which lets Google associate visit data with information from the Google accounts of signed-in users who have turned on ads personalization. This gives us aggregated reports on things like age range, general interests and device types; these reports do not identify you personally. We also display ads served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. 5. Service providers and where data is stored
We rely on trusted third-party providers for website hosting, email delivery, security and performance. They process personal information only to provide their services to us. Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its courts and authorities.
6. When we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. If you ask us to connect you with a lender or mortgage professional, we share the details you provide with that partner, with your consent and only for that purpose. From that point, the partner’s own privacy policy governs how they use your information. We may receive a referral fee for these introductions.
Apart from that, and the service providers described above, we do not pass your information to lenders, brokers or other businesses. Our articles may link to other websites; we are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please review their policies.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described above. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you, but we may keep your address on a suppression list so you are not added again by mistake.
8. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information from loss, theft and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it.
9. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing info@mortgagelibrary.ca. If you have concerns about how we handle your information, you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10. Children
Mortgage Library is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province or territory.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
